Great Long Bike Ride
For people who love to ride their bike there’s nothing better than having excellent bike trails practically right outside your door. Luckily for us this is what we have in Hamilton Ontario. Great bike trails and biking is one of the things Hamilton really has going for it, trails literally minutes from downtown some of which will take you right out of town often without tricky crossings of busy streets.
As Autumn approaches we have been trying to get in as many family bike rides as we can, especially since we finally got the trailer we needed for our 3 year old a little late in the season. This ride, we did 60km there and back, with a couple of stops along the way. It’s great to be able to get a workout like this in with a toddler in tow. For our Labour Day weekend ride we got onto the Brantford rail trail at Chedoke Golf Course and followed it, with a couple of stops along the way, to Lynden, where we turned around. I’ve ridden this trail many times to Brantford and you can keep going to Paris and to Cambridge. It’s a beautiful trail that inclines slightly about half the way to Brantford and then levels off.
We picked up a used child bike trailer one day, fixed it up a bit. It worked great and it was safe enough but it was still used and fairly beat up looking. So I couldn’t believe it when it got stolen one day off the back porch. I cried. I really love riding my bike and it is soooo much fun when we get to do it all together. I also figured it would be a lot more expensive to get a brand new one than it turned out to be. So we got a Via Velo and so far so good.
