Pink Flamingo

The history of the pink flamingo design starts with sculptor Don Featherstone who in 1957 designed a plastic pink flamingo for the plastics company Union Products.

A flamingo is a bird. Are they really pink? I don’t live anywhere near flamingos and I didn’t know so I looked it up and apparently they start out gray but their feathers gradually turn pink because of the natural pink dye found in the brine shrimp they eat.

Pink flamingo or flamingo pink. However you say it it brings to mind a distinctive hue of pink, one of the greatest colors in the world.
