In terms of health and wellness, especially mental health and wellness, the phenomenon of narcissistic abuse is something close to my heart these days since I just recently figured out that my own mother is what they call NPD, that is suffering from narcissistic personality disorder. Anyone who has gone through this knows that as much of a relief as it is to find a logical answer to a situation that only gets crazier and crazier as long as it is tolerated, it is also a fairly nasty feeling to realize that one’s own mother never really had your back, ever, and may have even preyed on real or perceived weaknesses or failings. Yeah, people like this shouldn’t even have children. That’s the brutal reality. My own story is long and I’m still riding the emotional roller coaster that comes with waking up to this. In the meantime I found this pretty cool short documentary and what looks to be some solid advice for dealing with narcissistic abuse.
