Pineapple is a beautiful and delicious fruit with many health benefits. It is rich in B vitamins which is great for overall health, as well as super high in vitamin C to ward off colds and flus. One of the only fruits containing bromelain pineapples are a natural anti inflammatory.
Called ananas originally, when translated to English became pineapple since it resembled a pine cone. The pineapple has been used as a motif in art, architecture, and other kinds of design since Babylonian times at least. Interesting that it has been used for that long as a motif in many different cultures, considering its pine cone shape, a symbol for the pineal gland or ‘third eye’.

Great in smoothies and salads, pineapple can also add a twist to more conventional dishes. Granted there is a contingent that will never accept pineapple on pizza but the “hawaiian” variation on the traditional pie stands its ground, whether it’s the tried and true with bacon or ham, or slightly more radical vegetarian versions, jalapeno feta for example or even Thai.
