Date Tapenade

First of all, I do like using my mini cuisinart to make tapenade, pestos, mayonnaise, and other concoctions. It IS  fun to put things in the food processor and then see what happens. Black olive tapenade in general is so easy to make,  and I thought of a variation where I add dates to the olives and the garlic and the capers. I used a jar of kalamata olives already pitted and sliced. You can easily use black olives in a can too. It won’t be quite the same but still good.

Dates can really overpower anything else you put them with so I try to use much less than half  the amount of dates compared to the olives. As you can see I used a couple of huge garlic cloves – maybe a little too much for some people’s tastes – one would have probably been enough, a big spoonful of capers and some olive oil and just processed it. And yeah, it looks like caca but tastes amazing, especially if you let it sit in the fridge for a while and let the flavours come together.
